February is Black History Month. Every February, people across Canada participate in Black History Month events and festivities that honour the legacy of Black people in Canada and their communities. Black entrepreneurs are making their presence felt. They’re driving innovations, delivering essential services in our communities, and leading businesses with strong diversity and inclusion initiatives.

Join Westbank First Nation's Economic Development Commission

The WFN Economic Development Commission is currently looking to fill three (3) seat vacancies. The purpose of the EDC is to assist WFN Council and the WFN economic community - WFN Members, community members and lessees - in creating a healthy, environmentally sustainable and dynamic economy on WFN lands, based on the value of economic self-reliance and a respect for the heritage and cultural values of the Okanagan (syilx) people.

BC celebrates Okanagan agricultural leaders

Two Central Okanagan agricultural leaders were recognized for their outstanding leadership and contribution to the agriculture sector at the BC Agri-Food Industry Gala held on January 24 in Abbotsford. BC Fruit Growers’ Association General Manager Glen Lucas received BCAC’s Excellence in Agricultural Leadership Award after 25 years with the association. Grade 6 teacher, Aaron Veensta, was named the Agriculture in the Classroom Foundation teacher of the year and started a composting program at his school.
